Groceries

Groceries is a shopping list app from the award winning developer studio sophiestication.

Groceries has just been updated to 3.0 featuring a much cleaner UI and a new icon. I preferred the previous icon but the new version is still great.

Groceries is a simple shopping list featuring nearly every feature you want. Groceries is focused on making the task of entering your items as fast and as easy as possible using smart data detectors.

One really great feature is, that all your items are sorted in aisles, which themselves can be arranged in a way that the order is reflecting the layout of your preferred super market.

Unfortunately there is one feature I miss in Groceries. I would love to have the ability to share my list with an other person. Currently you only can send it using email or text message, which is not enough. It should be possible to share the list in a way that two or more people are abel to add and remove items using different devices.

However Groceries is still my app of choice for making shopping lists and I have it in use since my first iPhone.

The second thing you’ll notice is that the shutter button has also been retired. It just doesn’t get any simpler. But how do you actually take photos? Our innovative shake to shoot system is the answer to that. We’re still tweaking this as pics are coming out a bit blurry, but that’s a minor detail compared to the elegance of the feature.

xPence

xPence is a great expense tracking app. The first one I am able to use for several months without forgetting it.

Although the user interface is not very typically for iOS, it works, it looks good and it makes the app interesting. However it feels it bit like Windows Phone 7, which seems a bit out of place on iOS.

The app features everything you’ll expect from an expense tracker: you can add your expenses (divided into different categories), you can add your income and, of course, you are able to view statistics about the money you spent.

However there is one big point I really don’t like. The app hides the iOS status bar and overlays it with an own bar showing no information except of a title. Why? The title is also in the tabbar, so we wont lose any information if we would just have the default status bar. Instead we would have much more information visible at one glance if we had the normal status bar (time, battery, signal, …). I found myself more then once quitting the app to take a look at my status bar, this shouldn’t happen!

Xtrail is a GPS-enabled fitness computer for runners and cyclists.

The app Xtrails is from Sophiestication software, also responsible for Articles. It features a gorgeous user interface and includes all the features you’ll expect from such an app. It allows you to track your distance, climb, pace and burned calories. You can even share your workout via Twitter, Facebook, Mail or iMessage. The app supports: Running, Walking, Hiking, Cycling, Mountain Biking, Skiing, Cross-Country-Skiing, Snowboarding, Roller-Skating and Rowing.

Promodoro

Promodoro is a great app for time and task management.

It follows the pomodoro principle, which says that you’ll work for a specific amount of time (default 25min) and make a short pause after the work time is finished (5min).

The app looks just really really great. It is easy to use and has every feature you expect from it. Promodoro has even a little todo-list included, which I however don’t need. It also gives you statistics about your streak, the number your min/max pomodoros per day as well as which day was your most productive one.

I already tested several such pomodoro apps, and this one is my new favorite, having every feature I need.

Ranky

Ranky is a beautiful app to analyze the current ranking of an app in the iOS or Mac App Store.

Ranky allows you track the ranking of several apps in the App Stores of several countries. You’re able to view the overall ranking as well as the ranking in the apps category. By tapping on a country you can view, which apps are just ranked before and after your tracked app. You also got the possibility to view the first 300 ranked apps, however this feature is only available if the tracked app is included in the first 300 apps for a particular country.

The app looks great and is easy to use. Definitely a recommendation for every developer and interested app store customer.

Screenshot Journal

As the name already implies, Screenshot Journal is an app to manage your screenshots on your iOS device.

After launching, Screenshot Journal automatically imports all screenshots from your camera roll and sorts them by date. However the most awesome feature is, that you are able to zoom into the screenshots to discover every detail down to the pixels, which allows you get a deeper understanding how an iOS user interface is build.

Delivery Status touch

Delivery Status touch is just the best app to track the deliveries you are waiting for.

As the long known Mac OS X widget Delivery Status is the best way to track your packages on Mac OS X, its iOS equivalent is the best app to this on iOS. You are able to sync the packages between your devices and you’ll also can get a push notification to your iOS devices, if the status of one of your packages has changed on the Mac widget.

I’ll don’t list all the supported services here. Every service I ever used is supported, so I think your favorit service is supported too. The most important are probably: UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL, TNT, Apple and Amazon. Here you’ll find a list of all supported services.

There is not much to say, just get it ;)
